Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Breaking news...

1. Raw Video: Car stuck in Washington street hole AP It's not exciting but there are pictures. (I don't watch tv "news" very much, terming it little more than "murders, fires, accidents, sports and weather.")

2. The "new" Loose Lips Daily blog entry as part of the Washington City Paper City Desk blog is a nice culling of "all the news that fits" and a good way to keep up.
