Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Anthony Bourdain No Reservations TV show on the Travel Show

at this moment (6 pm) is on DC.

--------
I don't know how interesting this show really was. It started out at Busboys & Poets, then sashayed to Ben's Chili Bowl. A long stint with the International Spy Museum followed, including a stop at Chadwick's in Georgetown (Chadwick's!) because that is where CIA agent Robert Ames met with Soviet contacts to sell U.S. secrets. Then it was off to Virginia to Pollo Rico in Arlington for Peruvian chicken, to Eden Center in Falls Church for Vietnamese cuisine, and a trip to an Ethiopian restaurant in Northern Virginia for tartare. Then it was back to DC to minibar with Jose Andres, for molecular gastronomy and then a big feature on the food service training aspects of the Central Union Mission.
