Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Mexico Initiative: and a project on improving public transportation

Iniciativa Mexico is a civic improvement/citizen engagement program focused on developing new ideas and projects to improve communities.

In 2010, 33,918 ideas and 13,131 projects were submitted, covering these areas:

  • Quality of Life
  • Community Development
  • Justice and Human Rights
  • Good Government and Accountability
  • Environment.
Because I am on the list for a Mexican sustainable transportation organization, I've been getting exhortations to vote for this project on improving public transportation, submitted by Adriana Lobo.

I like their graphics.
