Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

We have a bird bath, but the birds drink the water pretty quickly (it needs to be refilled daily).

... but a neighbor has a water problem in their backyard. I don't know if it was once a pond deliberately. But now it is through inaction. (And they are older, infirm, and don't interact with people. I've tried to reach out to get them a grant to fix it, but you can't even access their yard to get to their front door.)
