Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

C'mon and take a free ride! Today on the DC Circulator

Downtown Circulator bannerFrom Anne Carey, Project Manager for the DC Circulator bus service:

The DC Circulator service is celebrating our 1st Birthday this month!

Service actually began on July 10th but we're celebrating all month. Tomorrow is "FREE RIDE Friday". We're trying to get folks who haven't tried the Circulator to come out and take a ride.

If you haven't taken a ride on the DC Circulator, tomorrow's the day to check it out. The Van Hool buses they use are much quieter than the typical bus. The seats are comfy, and there are three different routes to take you around the center of the center city... And if you live in or work in "the right places," you might not have realized that the DC Circulator may be a more efficient (and less expensive, rides normally cost $1) way to get there.

And the buses have bike racks, just like WMATA buses.
