Alert - Show Sec. Flanagan your support for Purple Line today
(Sorry about the late notice)
From Action Committee for Transit, the Montgomery County transit advocacy group:
Today at 10:00 am, Secretary of Transportation Robert Flanagan will tour the Purple Line right of way as a guest of the Purple Line opponents.
Secretary Flanagan has never toured with opponents of the ICC or Beltway widening, even though these highways will have far greater impacts than the Purple Line. Each of the two road projects will take scores of homes, and the ICC will destroy 700 acres of forest.
Join us to show your support for the Purple Line.
Where: Town of Chevy Chase Leland Center, 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase.
When: Saturday, Oct. 14, 10:00 am (try to be there at 9:45)
What to wear: Walking shoes. Anything purple.
The Leland Center is in walking distance of Bethesda Metro, or if driving turn off Wisconsin on Willow Lane, next to the Women's Farm Market.

One of the points I made in my presentation a few nights ago about Montgomery County and regional transit issues is that the anti-transit agenda of the Republican-run State of Maryland Executive Branch of government is executed through developing routing that promotes "maximum public opposition" by maximizing the inconvenience, the number of houses to be seized, etc., as a result of the project. By creating loads of opposition, they don't have to worry about having to walk the talk and really do something.
