Something that should be done in DC

but to the best of my knowledge isn't, at least systematically, as a form of organizational capacity building, and not just for arts groups:

MARYLAND STATE ARTS COUNCIL ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE (ODA) WORKSHOPS

The Maryland State Arts Council, through its Organizational Development Assistance Program (ODA), offers FREE professional development workshops to small, emerging and mid-sized organizations that produce or present arts activities. The ODA Program is designed to provide development, financial, and management support services to non-profit organizations that present or produce arts programs and projects. Eligible organizations must be non-profit, incorporated in Maryland, and have an operating budget of $250,000 or less. Workshops are being held in various counties in partnership with Maryland's County Arts Councils. The program began in October, 2006 and will continue through June 18, 2007.

May 22 5:00-7:30 p.m. How to Fundraise/Projects Frederick County
May 23 5:00-7:30 p.m. Boards: A to Z*/Baltimore City
May 24 5:00-7:30 p.m. How to Market Your Non Profit/Frederick County
June 18 5:00-7:30 p.m. Financial Planning/Prince George's County

Organization's board and staff members encouraged to attend. Registration is required and attendance will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
