Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Wedge Co-op, Minneapolis

They wouldn't let me take photos. Too bad. The inside was gorgeous. They give places like Whole Foods a run for their money. Had an attendant for the vitamin-body care section. A good deli counter. Well stocked shelves. A great interior. The produce section was as well laid out, if not better, than the Whole Foods at Union Square in NYC.

The Wedge
And the bike racks in front of the store were full. (This photo is from the Wedge website.) How many people bike ride to Whole Foods?
