Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Baltimore transit summit tomorrow night

From the Baltimore Citizens Planning and Housing Association website:

Transit-Oriented Development Summit Dec. 10! Join Mayor Dixon, national experts, community leaders, and state officials 7-9 pm to discuss the potential here in Baltimore. Click here for more info or contact Dan Pontious.

I would go but am behind on too many other things. However, I would aver that Baltimore's "problem" isn't needing to put development by transit, it's first creating a transit "system" rather than have a set of disconnected transit assets.
