Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Blogs

1. The real estate firm Madison Marquette has launched a blog called Places.

2. So has Ward 8 Council candidate Charles Wilson, called The Barry stops here.

3. The DC Wire blog (from the Washington Post) reports that according to Chancellor Rhee "sometimes being a leader sucks."

I am fond of saying that "leaders lead." Otherwise we stay s(t)uck. DK yet if leading is the same as destruction, at least in terms of the DC Public School system.
