Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Do you read Indonesian?

If so, you can tell me about the In My Tree blog, which links not only to this blog, but to many other interesting urban blogs (most, fortunately, in English, although I can get around a bit in French and Spanish).

I'll be adding this to the links on the right, as I say and we all know, despite all the officials, parochial neighbors and developers that try to tell us differently, the systems and structures of urbanism are universal.
